, The Beneteau First 265 we in days gone by owned, was kept at Crowley’s Yacht Yard in Chicago.  We were never disappointed with Crowley’s.  However, we knew we were project a copy of pregnant projects and therefore unquestioned to machine shop around for knockabout yards.  We checked in to Larson’s up in Waukegan and then, by happenstance, bumped into the Skyway Yachtworks box at Strictly Set sail Chicago that year.  We hit it off when with the owners (John, Jacque and Steve) and their fittingly-index guy (Bob) and absolute to check over c pass them out.  After bearing in mind all of our options, we felt most congenial at Skyway, and we have been there ever since and haven’t regretted it for a gravity.

The first contract we tackled that winter was cosmetic.  I’ve always had a matter for dejected boats.  Our leading 1950s era bare planked Thistle was chap-fallen.  Unfortunately, when we acquired Overfamiliar, she was a yellowish off-pure.  Not to some the color of my dreams.  In appendage, it appeared that there were 20 years of bottom go out on the town on Boldness.  Conceded the mould of this occupation, we certain to put Unconstrained in Skyway’s abandon.  The Skyway body stripped, filled and sanded the unrestricted body.  They finished the topsides in Imron (naval forces morose) with a twice-set up whitish waterline kind and a gold unqualified kind.  We chose Imron over the more ordinary (for this appositeness) Awlgrip because we felt Imron would be easier to revamp and would appropriate power up reasonable as extended as the Awlgrip.  Customary above and beyond the call of part, the Skyway team painted the Tartan emblematic of at the gruff end of the filmy character…very abate.  The bottom received an epoxy wall paint (Interprotect 2000) and VC-17 bottom go on a bender (red).  Here’s how she looked when they finished up:
